At its recent IT Symposium in Barcelona, Gartner presented its thoughts on Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) technology integration, speaking to the advantages such integration could offer. However, Gartner predicted that fully integrated solutions are not likely to be available before 2015 and then suggested careful thought before deciding on a vendor ALM integration platform given that such a decision would be long-term and would lock out flexibility and any future ‘best of breed’ approach. In the meantime it was suggested that ‘mini suites’ of integrated ALM applications be considered. An example being IT Service integration including elements such as Change Control, Test and Requirements Management, Impact Analysis, Service Desk and so on.

 
       
       
 

SAP Change Intelligence

We hear a lot about Business Intelligence (BI) these days where Business Intelligence systems are used to improve an enterprise's decision making by combining tools for gathering, storing, accessing, and analyzing business data. Change Intelligence tools do the same but for change related data. Change Intelligence tools permit analysis of change related data to monitor, summarize and alert on change activity and improve change related decisions.

To best understand the potential value of SAP Change Intelligence, it's necessary to understand the sources of SAP system change, the lurking dangers of unidentified or lost change and the limitations of current native tool sets.
