Happy New Year and welcome to our first issue of SAP Change Control
e-News for 2011.

I do trust you are looking forward to an exciting and productive year, I know here at Revelation Software Concepts (RSC) we certainly are.

Unfortunately, for many others in Australia the year hasn’t started well with unprecedented flooding in much of the north east including Brisbane, Australia’s third largest city with flood waters impacting an area the size of France and Germany combined. To assist in the recovery, individuals and business have contributed to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal to the tune of over $145 million so far.

RSC will also donate $50 to the Queensland Disaster Relief Appeal for every Salt installation registered by February 14th, both Free and Paid versions. For more information, click here.

If you would like to donate personally, visit www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate

This year we will be continuing to bring you interesting articles around SAP change control, product news, Rev-Trac features and functions, tips and tricks and articles on customer use of Rev-Trac.

I trust you will find the articles helpful and of value as we carry on seeking to lead innovation in SAP Change Control and continue to develop our innovative software solutions to simplify your SAP change control efforts.

Rev-Trac Service Pack 3 is Now Released

The Rev-Trac Support Team at RSC are excited to announce the release of Service Pack 3 for Rev-Trac 6.0.

The new service pack focuses on enhancing change process visibility and control, via enhanced early error detection enabling IT teams to identify and correct potential problems before moving transports forward in the change process and via enhanced change request management methods.

Two key service pack improvements are:
  • OOPS can now test change transports for overtakes, overwrites and collisions before they are migrated
  • A Master Rev-Trac request can now have “child” requests attached enabling the grouping of like requests for easier sign off and promotion
More information can be found in the Press Release or via the Support area of the RSC website.

Rev-Trac Features and Functions

Rev-Trac is a feature-rich and powerful SAP change control technology and so in this segment, we plan to cover key Rev-Trac components to give you a greater insight into the deeper technical value of Rev-Trac relative to alternative options.

In this issue, we bring you an overview of Rev-Trac’s source-specific transpoprt migration feature.

Source-specific migration

Using Rev-Trac's source-specific migration feature, it is possible to:
  • Mix transports from multiple sources on a single Rev-Trac request
  • Define different migration actions for different transports on the request, depending on their actual (or nominated) source
  • Control dependencies by ensuring dependent transports from different systems are migrated in their dependent order
